Research Lab Technician - 1 position

Temporary Full Time

Temporary position, anticipated to extend until April 30, 2025, subject to the availability of work.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Michael Silverman in the role of the Research Lab Technician in Microbiology/Infectious diseases. This position will assist the Department of Infectious diseases to implement both industry-sponsored and local investigator sponsored clinical research trials. Responsibilities may include compiling data, performing standardized techniques, procedures and experiments in the lab. Communicating and maintaining lab records, lab purchase, monitors and maintains lab stocks and equipment. Conducts routine quality analysis, literature searches and assists with preparing documents. Responsible for providing administrative support and other duties as required by the research team.



Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and above in health-related field or equivalent qualification/ work experience will be considered
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and have the ability to deal with confidential matters
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to communicate effectively general and scientific information both verbally and in writing at all levels
  • Good judgement, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace
  • Adaptable, flexible and resourceful
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Laboratory skills in microbiology/ biochemistry/molecular biology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and above in health-related field or equivalent qualification/ work experience will be preferred
  • Research lab experience desirable
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Ability to prepare research communications desirable
  • Phlebotomy experience desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
  • The incumbent will maintain certification in
  • Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • CPR training
  • WHMS training
  • Shipping of Dangerous Goods training
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine or proof of one dose and a signed commitment to receive a second dose within a specified timeframe, (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
